Just the briefest of posts as 'Team Awdry' braces itself for what promises to be a rather soggy Bank Holiday break. Not new, per se, but certainly recently reworked (the original post can be found here.) as I face up to the grim reality that the original lipped bases need to be replaced. They just seem unwieldy compared to the delicate frames of these Burmese warriors; a base that is as wide as the miniature is tall is, on reflection, a little bit of overkill!
Whilst tinkering with these I've discovered the standard bearers that need to be done and some British troops to balance the sides!
The Jingal team was also rebased using a 40mm MDF base from the wonderful 'Warbases'.
I will need to catch up with your posts and comments after the weekend.
Have a good weekend even if soggy. I am usingthe weather as an exuse to stay close to my painting desk.

ReplyDeleteEven if it wasn´t for the excellent painting, presentation etc it would be more than worth looking here to see the diverse range of victoriana on offer. Where do you find such subjects!? Again..another excellent set of minis.

DeleteIf the natives are in pith helmets and red coats it will be interesting to see what the British are wearing in this conflict. Great looking figures Michael and I am another fan of the flat rather than raised bases.

ReplyDeleteVery nice work Michael. I must admit, I am busy with some EotD packs now and I do find their lipped bases a bit extreme in size. I have gone with them for now, and will see how it goes.

ReplyDeleteExcellent! I too prefer the low-profile bases. I find the large black rim of the others to be too noticeable - my eyes seem to end up seeing the black circles more than the miniatures themselves.

ReplyDeleteLovely paint job...anyone who can paint eyes on these little blighters deserves special praise. Everytime I try it I end up botching perfectly good faces...then I yell obscenities and throw my brush on the floor and vow never to try again...till next time!
