Sadly no painting today as domestic chores beckon, but I thought I would just take stock of where my 'Challenge' is at the moment. With the bonus theme rounds all but done, what remains on the table are the miniatures required to reach my target of a 1000 points! This doesn't look good, with only twenty something days remaining it is now highly unlikely that I'm going to achieve that, but not to worry. 'The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge' remains a wonderful incentive to get things done over the winter months and although I toyed with the idea of a 'Plan B' in order to amass quick points this has been subsequently dismissed on the grounds that it doesn't seem in the spirit of the event - I'm happy to pootle along and see just how close I get.
IMHO, getting close, sir, is better than getting lost in the fog of "I wish I could."
ReplyDeleteWe shall persevere to persevere!
Wise words indeed Sir.
DeleteI'm always amazed and inspired by the dedication and talent of all the "Challenge" participants. Regards, Dean
ReplyDeleteIt has become an important part of my production during the winter months, with a real sense of community and support.
DeleteNever mind Michael, there's nothing like a good pootle. I'm not one for deadlines myself.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly fun taking part and you are right, deadlines can be so restrictive. ;)
DeleteHola
ReplyDeleteBuena mesa amigo,a atentos nos tienes
un saludo
Thank you J.D. there is certainly plenty to keep me busy.
DeleteI like your spirit. It is a hobby after all and it is important that you do stuff to a standard that you are happy with - good luck with it matey.
ReplyDeleteThank you, certainly what I was thinking.
DeleteLots of interesting minis there. Some Martians and artillery crew :D
ReplyDeleteWe do like to keep it varied! ;)
DeleteKeep plodding away Sir M.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, still plodding!
DeleteI'd be wondering how much you wounldn't have done without the incentive of the Challenge and coming anywhere near close to your target is something to be proud of - progress is progress after all, no matter how much.
ReplyDeleteWise words Joe, thank you. I think you are absolutely right, the incentive of the challenge has really inspired me again this year.
DeleteIt is a view some of us take as we get older in life and why not. Easy like a Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteA little tip for storing your paints Michael, is to have the lids pointing downwards. Apparently this helps prevent having the clear liquid come out of the end before the paint itself.
I couldn't agree more Pat, after all it is a hobby that is supposed to relax us. Now as for those pots, I tried turning them upside down and you are absolutely right, it certainly helps to keep the paint mixed. I just didn't like the way it looked - sad really!
DeleteYou might not hit 1000 points but the quality has been off the scale
ReplyDeleteIan
That is incredibly kind of you Ian, thank you.
DeleteOh I spot Mars Attacks Martians I would love to see what you do with them
ReplyDeleteKeen eyes there Pete, they are working their way to the head of the queue.
DeletePootle dear Sir pootle.
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly something I enjoy. ;)
DeleteI'm not going to reach my revised total either due to real life interfering. I've also come to the conclusion that rushing things won't make much difference and the outcome will be less that satisfactory. Pootling is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I've been hugely impressed at what you have achieved this year - a tremendous effort Sir.
DeleteYour bench looks like mine atm! Lovely selection of figures, but sadly, not much paint on 'em! I do like that paint rack too!
ReplyDeleteIt is all very frustrating, but I'm sure they will done at some point. The paint rack is just about the right size for my conner of the dining room table and came from these chaps:

Hello Michael,
ReplyDeleteseems like we're in the same boat. My bonus entries are mostly done but my goal of 750 points seems anreachable. I'll share your plan B and see how much I'll achieve during the last weeks of the challenge.
By the way once again pure eye candy in the comedic bonus round. Your interpretation of Cpt. Hook is really top-notch, my friend!
Cheers
Stefan
Thank you so much Stefan and I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the bonus rounds with you - one more to go.
