Paint Table Saturday#81

Still here, just about, but very little to show this week.  Having battled, stoically and with very little sympathy, through a bout of 'manflu', we have reached another Bank Holiday here in Blighty and so looking forward to pushing on with these rather lovely Crimean War Miniatures one of which, the Russian General, was a gift from that splendid chap Stefan, A.K.A. Monty of 'Monty's Caravan' fame.

Still no sign of the Penguin, but I feel that he has waited far too long in the wings* and so I hope to use the half term break to see if we can't push him along a bit.  I'm starting to find a little more time at the weekends to catch up with many of the splendid weblogs that I enjoy following, but I'm all to aware that I continue to miss much of what is going on, but rest assured we'll be back to full steam before too long.

*no pun intended as Oswald Cobblepot Esq. is somewhat touchy on the subject of wings!

  1. Sorry to hear you have been poorly. But a half term break and bank holiday have got to help. Chin up ol' bean.

  2. Nice start on some very cool figures, Michael. Although I've never gamed the Crimean War, I find the uniforms for the quite stunning, Almost like a last-hurrah for Napoleonic-styles.

    1. I couldn't agree more Dean, probably not an era that I will game, but I love building the collection and painting the miniatures.

    1. Thank you J.d. there are certainly a lot of details in the uniform, but hopefully I'll be able to do them justice.

  4. Keep on plugging away Sir Michael! Manflu eh? I hope it's not the virulent "Welsh" strain, that brought me low over the winter. Very nasty.
I'm sure half term will help immensely.

    1. Thank you Bob, I have succumbed to that virulent "Welsh" strain in the past, but this is the soft Southerner variant - should have it beaten soon.

  5. Hope you're feeling better, Sir! The weather is finally cooperating to where I can paint as well, so I'm hoping to use this long weekend likewise!

  8. Hope you feel your old self again real soon. I'd have thought there's plenty of character in those minis you've posted to get the creative juices flowing over the BH... and I'm certainly looking forward to your Penguin.

  11. I feel your pain with suffering from bouts of illness, just getting over another head/chest cold from returning home from Cangames. It does make it harder to get motivated to paint. Now looking at those figures & thinking of the others with the tea theme....you could almost do a Tea Time thru the Ages vignette.

    1. Hope your feeling better soon Terry. I know that I have a terrible posture when painting and almost impossible to maintain with a dribbling nose! Still on the mend now and thinking about your great idea.

  12. Stefan is such a kind man and it seems he's managed to get those to you in time when you need the lift. Coming along quite nicely I might add.

No worries about not getting out and about blogger. Take care of yourself first and feel better soon.

  15. Man flu is just the worst type a man can get and yet it never elicits the proper response from the female of the species. Nature and nurture, what a loads of old bollocks!
The general is a fine looking chap, but the guardsman at tiffin is as good as one can expect, splendid
