On the road again!

As some may be aware I have come up with a novel way of justifying my inability to remain focussed on one project for any considerable length of time!  The solution; whatever I'm reading at the time can be included fair game with regarding the purchasing and painting of miniatures!  This is of course how a Roman General found his way onto the pages of 28mm Victorian Warfare.  Well that distraction continues and currently sitting on  the bedside table is Max Brooks' 'World War Z'.  Now the obvious way to go was Zombies but with absolutely no experience in this field I was somewhat stunned by just how popular a genre this was in the gaming community, Wow!  Pages and pages of the undead not to mention hundreds of companies competing for my Great British Pound.  In the end I typed in '28mm Zombies', set controls for a Google Image Search, grabbed a cup of tea and just browsed away.  Eventually I came across 'Cold War Miniatures'  and settled on them because of the originality of the sculpts (a Zombie Guardsman - brilliant!) As this was probably going to be a one off I decided to treat myself to some urban style bases, again a huge amount of choice but finally discovered 'Black Cat Bases' who had just what I was looking for.

Now the only problem with all this was that the miniatures came with a slot base and I needed to convert them to a flat one.  Not to panic, I could do this, couldn't I?  The old Pin Drill was dusted down and after a frantic search for some paperclips I was underway, chopping, drilling and glueing.
"I'm stuck on you"
You can imagine my relief when this process was completed and that I hadn't managed to butcher my newest purchase.  I decided that it was probably best to start the paint job with the bases and would you believe it but I actually found myself stepping outside to check the colours.  For example, in my beloved village, the curbstones are a slightly different grey to that of the paving slabs at that the tarmac has a warmish tone to it nearest the gutter (I'm taking this way too seriously aren't I?), still I was really pleased with the results which is why we have this slightly impromptu post now.

  1. I'd like to add to that reading justification by adding movies aswell, very nice work.

  3. Hi Fran, if I add movies I'll be domed; not enough money, not enough time, too much choice!
