More stunning work from '4Ground', these Timber Framed Dwellings were even more impressive than the 'Hovel'. Once again it is the quality of the design and the attention to detail that make these models really stand out for me. The slightest adjustment of one small component allows for two distinctive styles. The position and construction of the chimneys adds further variation and factor in the 'add on' roofing slates and your town could have a myriad of possibilities! I shall certainly be adding to my collection.
Construction is relatively straightforward, a couple of elastic bands and some P.V.A. being the only addition extras required. As previously mentioned the detailing is superb, I love the little mouse hole on the first floor - cat not included though!
I'm looking forward to the release of their fantasy range in July, they were on show at Salute and look perfect for my needs, adding a touch of mystery to the dwelling.
I absolutely agree with you about the overall quality of the 4ground products. I first bought the 28mm range for French INdian Wars and they are good value for money. Currently I am working on the Japanese Range which I find even better. If you do not want to make everything on your own (or can't do it) then this is one of the companies to invest some money in and you get a superb scenery.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, I may well go back and add some personal touches at a later date, but they really are ready to go.
Delete4ground does get high praises from modelers. These are just lovely Michael!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are Anne.
DeleteThere is a host of wonderful stuff out there and these are lovely. I do however find the model maker in me beginning to rebel!.... I will have to scratch build something
ReplyDeleteNow I hear what you are saying and I have to confess that I have a hankering to make a 'Slaughtered Lamb' pub!
DeleteI can just see these on a dark night with a creaking pub sign swinging in the breeze. A were wolf sneaking about in the background. NIce work on these, they should be just the job!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of something similar myself, "Stay on the road. Keep clear of the moors."
DeleteVery nice, Michael; I have to say, these did really impressive at Salute; particularly the Wild West stuff. On a slight aside, where did you acquire the Celtic cross in your previous post? ;)
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Monty
I can't wait to get my hands on the new buildings that were on show at Salute. The Celtic cross is an Ainsty Casting piece - a two part resin piece.
DeleteThanks Michael! :)
DeleteVery fancy… and not a bit of teddy bear fur in sight!
ReplyDeleteA fur free zone! Not a phrase I ever imagined writing on this blog.
DeleteVery nice Michael .
ReplyDeleteCheers .
Thank you Vincent.
DeleteMichael
ReplyDeleteNice buildings. The cat is a nice touch.
Apparently the mouse hole is a trademark addition, certainly a lovely touch.
DeleteThey´re nice. One Thing that really gets me...why, especially if the buildings are laser cut, don´t the firms offer their ranges (Fantasy, modern etc) in 15mm, 20mm, 28mm etc, all possible wargaming scales in fact? Cover all the bases (pun intended) I mean, it can´t be that difficult to resize for different scales..or?
ReplyDeleteSome do, if not for all ranges. 4Ground has some stuff also in 15mm (FIW I am absolutely sure)
DeleteI've certainly seen different scales listed on their site Paul.
DeleteWhat a beautiful kit sir, can't wait to see it painted.
ReplyDeleteDoh! You don't even to paint them.
DeleteWhat could be simpler? ;)
DeleteYes I'm going to get those fantasy buildings for Transylvania!
ReplyDeleteThey'd be perfect for that, I was thinking 'Slaughtered Lamb' pub myself.
DeleteThey really are lovely pieces of work and great looking too!
ReplyDeleteReally pleased with them and will have to have some of their other buildings too.
DeleteThey do look very nice and so easy to assemble. What's not to like!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly get my vote.
Deletereally good!
ReplyDeletethey can be useful for many purposes!
I couldn't agree more Luca.
DeleteNice. It looks like your expanding your terrain collection at a good pace Michael.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
They certainly help to get things moving along in the right direction.
DeleteThey are nice.
ReplyDeleteThey really are.
DeleteThey look great Michael. I've picked up a couple packs which I will make a point of putting together once the craziness of May passes
ReplyDeleteThey are a joy to work on Terry, I was really impressed with their design.
DeleteThey are lovely buildings and I too have a couple of them and also I have the big market hall/town hall and it is a monster of a kit but very nice too
ReplyDeleteI quite fancy that one myself Pete, might need to save up a few pennies first.
DeletePretty fancy!
ReplyDeleteThe are lovely.
DeleteI have a few of these also Michael. Who would have thought a couple of years ago that plastic figures and laser cut terrain would have had such a big impact in our hobby.
ReplyDeleteYou're not wrong Pat, the quality of design and production seems to have really given a boost to the creativity of modellers and gamers alike.
DeleteGood stuff mate. You can never have enough buildings...
ReplyDeleteSadly not a view shared by the Saintly Mrs. Awdry! :(
DeleteThose look fantastic. All of these laser cut companies are coming out with some really great stuff! Hard on the wargaming budget for sure!
ReplyDeleteThey do take their toll on the pocket money, but they have helped to keep me moving forward.
DeleteGreat looking prepainted laser cut MDF buldings :)
ReplyDeletejust got my self 3 city block building from sarissa pressision.
Now that sounds rather tasty, not sure I'd get away with a city block at the moment.
DeleteLooking at the 'houses' of you past couple of blog posts took me back to my school days when I made a whole house out of toothpicks for an art project. Ah sweet pleasant memories of art in school of which there was precious few. Most of the art teachers during my school days made the subject so boring that they literally killed my interest in art. :(
ReplyDeleteHappy days indeed although I'm horrified to hear of your later art teachers, not how it should be.
DeleteInteresting, they look nice.
ReplyDeleteI can't praise them enough Jason.
DeleteThank you Squire.
