A fairly self-explanatory post this morning as I head up the mighty metropolis that is Ashford for some zombie themed shenanigans with that splendid chap the 'Dark Templar'. These are from 'Warlord Games' and were originally sold as part of their 'Rorke's Drift' set, something I still want to get my hands on!
My first impressions were not favourable, particularly when looking at the amount of air bubbles that needed to be filled and excess plastic that had to be hacked away. That said, it was clear that they were a good looking sculpt and I was hopeful that they might yet prove their worth.
Plenty of dry brushing and flocking later and they war complete, I just need to rediscover the damaged versions that I have put in a safe place!
They look very fine. When you find the ones in your safe place, please check to see if the packs of hurricane lamps I have put in mine have not migrated!

DeleteI don't know if you'll personally feel they were worth the effort, but they're the best-looking model dry-stone walls I've seen. Quite reminiscent of the ones where I grew up, though we didn't have fancy corners like those!
ReplyDeleteThat is incredibly kind of you, and yes once the damaged was repaired I was delighted with how they turned out. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with Warlord Games at the moment.

DeleteYou have achieved some great results with these Michael. Can't say i'm surprised re the casting issues. I don't buy from Warlord anymore after they twice sent me a platoon's worth of infantry which were horribly miss-cast.

DeleteYou did a great job on these pieces and they really look the part. As always I'm slightly put off by the rubbish WG want to sell us as high quality castings for high quality casting prices. Reminds me a bit of some other Nottingham based company...

DeleteWow Warlord seems to expect you to put a lot of time in fixing their mistakes! But as a stalwart hobbyist you have taken up their miscast challenge to produce a wonderful set of stone walls. Your ECW village is really coming to life. When will we see a game of Witchfinder General?
